What exactly does it do. I fought with mine for while getting it to 'clock' correctly.

The gauge reads over full all the time. Even when there is no fuel in it.

Re: Fuel gauge not working need help

Okay, what I did was made sure mine was full so I knew my reference point. then pulled the needle off and powered it on. Then set the needle on full once the gauge found its reference point. It seems that thing can be anywhere in-between 0 and 180 degrees from where it needs to be. I tried other tactics before I got the above to work.

Pulling the needle off the first time was easier said than done. It was a scary proposition. I don't think they make it with coming off in mind but it will.

Re: Fuel gauge not working need help

You can check the wire at the sender with a test light. It should light up dim. If tou get no light make sure the brown wire is plugged into the correct socket in the fuse box. It should only fit the 1 socket since there is an off set tab on the plug. If you still have no power check where the wiring plugs into the cluster it may be dirty or I have seen the printed circuits damaged where the connector touches it. If not check for bad grounds and a bad resister located on the back of the fuel gauge. Hope this helps you.
