141805 Sanden /R4
Has anyone here running a serpentine belt converted to a Sandem compressor? Vintage air has a conversion bracket: 141805 Sanden /R4
multi-groove conversion bracket How did your route the hose connections? Did you an R4 hose adaptor? Do hoses need to cut and fitted for Sanden connections? I'm fed up with R4 compressors failing and not cooling enough. |

I can't help with the Sanden conversion, but I am installing an auxiliary condensor fan for the 134a A6 in my 83 tomorrow, with the help of my mechanic. I will post on whether or not it helps with cooling - 108 degree heat we have now should be a good test. From what I read, rebuilt A/C compressors are not very reliable, and new compressors are very $$$$.

Re: 141805 Sanden /R4
Let me know how it works out. I have room to install a push auxillary fan on the front side. One side is covered with an external trans oil cooler. I may convert one LS1 fan side to a dual purpose fan. A/C and temp controlled.
I've measured the ohms on the clutch. From internet info, I'm almost sure the clutch is fried. If I can confirm it with a local rebuilder, I'll swap it out. Lucky me, it's something I can do without opening the system again. I know the compressor is not locked up. I can turn the cluth with my hand. |
