truck wont start

ok-- truck was running good, missing slightly, plugs were gettnig old though and i need valve seals so thats understandable... a friend of mine let me have a carb that was running good on his truck, and i put it on because it had a working choke, well, it did start easier... was flooding bad though and i had it sitting on a hill so i moved it so i could adjust the carb. after i moved it, it started missing even worse and i had to put it in 4-lo and low to even move. it was popping bad and you could floor it and it wouldnt rev up any. well, i finally got it to a good spot and stopped it, shut it off, the next morning i checked and the mixture screws were out 6.5 and 7.5 turns (this is a weber-wanna-be-edelbrock) i turned them in, and it wont even fire... ok, carb is screwed up, put the holley back on. still wont start... check for gas, its getting gas, check for spark, its getting spark, but it wont even fire so whats wrong with this thing??

prlly gas fouled the plugs pull em out clean em up and get a can of quick start and see if it will run that way and stick the old carb on there when ya put alot of junkyard pieces on a truck ya get alot of junk

forgot to mention some things----- the plugs are brand new, it wouldnt even start after i put them in... i checked and the fuel pump is working (a friend watched it while i turned it over, made sure there was gas flowing through the filter), the cam is for sure not broke, and neither is the timing chain... only thing i can figure out is maybe the t-chain jumped a tooth?

well check that bloo but if ya have gas fouling the plugs it can happen tobrand new plugs trust me ive seen it many times

Well said "when ya put alot of junkyard pieces on a truck, ya get alot of junk" couldn't be more true. I know a guy that uses alot of junkyard parts. Looks like junk and runs just the same.

honestly Bloo that may not be a bad idea as long as you plan on putting good parts on whatever you build. fixing stuff where youre using used parts to build something that half runs is never a good idea i think youre best bet is to go all out on one truck and part out the rest and make some $$$ to fix the one youre building properly. Sounds like with all these projects youre spreading yourself a little thin.... hey i was in your shoes years ago now i dont wanna be bothered so i drive stuff thats relatively new so i dont have to repair it daily, and i can take one of my trucks clear across the country without having to worry if im gonna break ddown ont he side of the highway

Sounds like either your chain jumped, or your camshaft has a flat From the problems you described it sounds exactly like what happens when your camshaft loses it lobes. I'd take off the valve covers and turn the motor over while looking at the valves to see how much they open. If I were a betting man though I'd bet with 99.9% confidence that your cams shot.
