oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe

Is this due to valve guide seals needing replaced?

Thanks

Or bad/non-existent piston rings.

I had a GM engine that did that for years. Didn't get worse or better. Didn't use much oil either.

I don't follow "oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe". Burnt oil smoke?

Re: oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe

Thanks for all the answers guys. It has a few puffs of white smoke on start up, yesterday though, I hadn't started it in a couple weeks and a few drips of oil came outta the pipe onto the target floor. I was figuring it pooled up from sitting so long

Interesting.
I never saw drops of oil come out of exhaust pipe.
Does it drink lots of oil or foul plugs?

Re: oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe

Sure it's not just regular old exhaust water vapor/moisture mixed with the soot in the system? Pretty common to see a black drip here and there out of an old carbed rig.

Doesn't foul plugs, but it uses a little oil, not to much though

Re: oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe

I have seen condensate drips like GASoline71 mentioned.
Is it one of those: looks like oil, feels like oil, smells like oil, tastes like...ah...ummm.
I would guess that plugs would be instantly fouling if engine pumped enough oil to make it through exhaust system.

Re: oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe

I don't think it's actually oil either. Sometimes there can be so much carbon build up the condensation might seem oily or look oily, but I would sure think by the time it gets to the exhaust tip it would be white smoke if it were truly oil.

Re: oil outta drivers side exhaust pipe

I agree... if there was actual oil dripping from the tail pipe... I would dare say that the engine wouldn't be running very well at all.

I'm betting it's just soot and water mixed. Completely normal.
