Show us your best trick! What I mean is, show us the one thing you are most proud of on your truck. Some cool idea, neat mod, or one of a kind hand built piece that shows your craftsmanship. Examples would be: hidden fuel filler neck, clean engine bay, custom interior, hand built tonneau cover, new twist to the standard bed wood, you get the idea.. What makes it YOUR truck?

Here's the deal for me....My truck is nothing to "crow" about. Not stock. Not a hotrod. Not a bucks-up custom. It has elements of all three of those factors, but it's just a truck.

What I like most about it, I can say from the experience of building it up from the concrete floor to the PIA it can be today, is that I did it myself.

Hell, if I had the dough, I would'a been *happy* to have some pro help. Nothing against buying one done, either (in fact $$$-wise, it's the smartest way to go, I'm sure).
And, also, nothing wrong with subbing out all the work your checkbook will allow. Example: We are bellying up to the paint bar right now.

But, having said that, I still AM proud of the RAT.

The view from the driver's seat with my home-grown paint of the interior, the 2004 Blazer seats, the Village Idiots MC Club art I made for inside of the tach, the $55 Italian boat-steering wheel
it too me so much time to fab to the tilt column, etc. I like to do stuff that I hope ends up sweet without breaking the bank. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not. So, I change it without crying.
Or going BK. Like, I did the wood over the steel bed. Turned out pretty good. Not stock. But I had the wood left over from our house install. I may leave it. Maybe not. And the bucks-up nav,
sat radio, dvd player in a home-made console. It's a little much. It may stay. Then again, it may go.

I neither like to brag, nor have anything to brag about (well, I DO have something to brag about ...the wife and kids).

But, by far the best thing about building this truck was having some family time around it, and meeting and writing back and forth with folks on this Forum.

Nice woodwork skill. It just dawned on me that your truck would make the ultimate coffin for a Chevy truck enthusiast. Maybe you can put that in your will that you want to be burried in it. There's actually a guy that did that. Here are the pics.

I can tell you put a lot of time and love into your truck. The steering wheel looks really nice. I like the power windows as well. What vehicle did the console come from? Was their a lot of fabbing required to install the Blazer seats?

These are pretty utilitarian ones. Replaced my rotten bed wood w Trex decking and added some tread material on the steps.

That "console" is a cheap $ss plastic one from Pep Boys. I didn't picture the one I made that has all the entertainment stuff wedged inside it. I used some of the remaining wood from the house/bed and it came out like in the pics. It may stay. May not.
Nice to have (listen to) music videos, sat radio, hands-free telephone and have it bark at me that I'm going the wrong way. But it's probably a novelty...so, who knows?
Comes out easy enough.
