Stock 83 Grille

I am looking for a stock replacement for my 83 C20 dual headlight grille. The grilles I see online all say (w/o provision for emblem), which I guess means they do not have the raised area in the center to accommodate the emblem. Does anyone know where I can get correct replacement grille?

Re: Stock 83 Grille

That is the problem - the stock grille has a raised center area in the shape of a bow tie which accommodates the gold bow tie emblem. The aftermarket grilles I see have just a uniform center bar across the width of the grille, so no place for the emblem to attach.

Re: Stock 83 Grille

I had the same problem with an 82 I wound up buying the LMC replacement and stick a gold bowtie on there

Re: Stock 83 Grille

I just purchased one of the ebay grilles with out the raised portion.
I looked for a stock 83 grille for some time now.
I THINK that will be able to drill two holes and mount the stock bowtie in the center.
It will not be raised, but the same level as the trim.
The 83-84 grilles are the only ones with a "curved" bowtie that follows the contour of the grille it self. the 81-82 and 85-87 bowties are flat across the back.
For $45, it is a cheap experiment.
All of the other mounting holes for the trim etc are there.
I will let you know how it goes.

Re: Stock 83 Grille

I will try to rehab my existing grille. It has the two top mounting ears broken off, but I mostly have the broken pieces. I will attempt to expoxy and use sheet metal mending plates on the backside where it won't be too visible.
