Camaro Subframe install on a 67 Burb - ?'s/advice
Bear with me y'all Im new here and learning, but I come seeking advice, its a long story but I will try to give you the short of it.
My boyfriend has a 67 Burban with 3 inch lowered lower control arms and was recently in a minor accident involving a median curb. It broke the control arm on the drivers side and hit hard enough to bend the frame. I cant bear to see him total it, and because of this he has mentioned installing a camaro subframe, but is reluctant to do so as he hates the idea of cutting the frame. SO... I am hoping some of you may have some words of wisdom on the topic or at least some thoughts to share. Anything would be appeciated at the moment. Thank you all and I hope in time we will be posting pics of "our Burban" whole and running again |

I would look for another frame if it is bad.Check into having the frame repaired. If you have to cut the frame, why not use a 67-72 frame?I have not done one of these trucks but I have done dozens of over the road trucks.Cut the frame at a staight section.Make the cut on the diaganal. This gives a larger weld area.Have a plate bent to fit the inside of the frame rail.Drill holes in the frame and plug weld the fishplate.Make sure whoever does the welding knows what they are doing!I think Early Classic's has the plates.

See WES post on "burb panel progress" He put a 72 crossmember under a 67 panel and shows step by step how to make mods! makes a good read! Good luck and let me know if you need a the '72 frame I might be able to hook you up!

Just buy a rolling frame, unbolt your body and raise it up. then you can roll out your old frame and roll in the new one. then you can transfer your drive train. after all they're just bolts!
This is probably the most straight forward swap and it will be structurally sound.
