Wheel bearings
I have a noise when turning left, it's a grinding noise, you can also feel vibration in time with the noise. Comes from the front right. So I pulled the rotor off and looked at the wheel bearings. They look ok, a bit loose, but is the inner bearing supposed to be loose in the rotor?

Re: Wheel bearings
You can remove and visually inspect cleaned up bearings and races for pitting and scoring.
Also verify brakes are in good condition and properly installed. |

Re: Wheel bearings
Does the noise only exist when steering wheel turned fully to the left?

Re: Wheel bearings
Gone that far, may as well get a new seal and bearings and do it up. Then you'll know they're good.
How are the pads wearing? Tires hitting anything? Like the rubber/plastic piece on some trucks between the inner fender and frame. My K-20 did this when I installed new tires

I thought at first that the tires were hitting something, but they are nowhere close to hitting anything. I haven't changed the wheels and tires either, this just started a few weeks ago. |

Re: Wheel bearings
The bearings do float inside hub; they become tight when castle nut seats them on spindle.
That much noise should have left evidence. |

Re: Wheel bearings
Did you check if wheel is rubbing caliper?

Re: Wheel bearings
But only on turns? That wheel is cracked, but I can't see how its suddenly developing issues. I don't drive the truck much.

Re: Wheel bearings
Not unusual for non-OEM wheels and/or calipers/caliper hardware to have interference issues.
I'd have a look for wheel to caliper hardware interference evidence. For the bearings I'd install wheel, tighten castle nut and verify smooth turning and minimal slop. |

Re: Wheel bearings
I think you've got the wrong idea about the bearings. What you're seeing in that picture is the seal. Remove the seal and pull the bearing out. The bearing consists of an outer race which is pressed into the rotor and the bearing and inner race which sits inside the outer race. When removed like in your picture, the bearing will not fit firmly into its outer race and will appear to be loose. You must remove it and inspect the rollers and the outer race to see what you have to work with.
