Subs under the seat

Anyone done the homework on the size needed to stick some subs under a bench seat? Fairly certain I can make the enclosure, but am trying to cheat a bit before removing the seat or cracking my neck trying to measure that area...

For some trucks, there are already pre-fabbed ones out there & almost so cheap that is is hardly worth the cost savings to build it yourself unless you really have the way to bring the wood homes, buy the upholstery, time & tools to build one.

I do like building my own stuff buy also realize sometimes the slightly higher cost of pre-fabbed is worth it.

I am all for doing it yourself, but I agree there are some nice pre fabs. It depends on what sub(s) you want to run and how you want it set up.

I just built a box under the passenger side of my bench seat. In a faily simple box .25 cu/ft is about all your gonna get per side with 3/4 mdf. You could probably get .30 or so with a more complicated box.

I think I have some measurements around here somewhere, but building it yourself is definitely the way to go. The springs that pull the seat forward take up some space as does the wire/rod that connects the two sides. If you don't adjust your seat you can get a bit more space out of it by taking those two things completely out. I'd go with two shallow mount 10" subs in your case. There's a bit of room height wise under there so I decided to go with a pair of 6.5" speakers and the small 6.5" JL subwoofers. They're tiny but they pack a pretty good punch.

I used to have two 10" earthquakes under my seat. The box was a little small for those speakers though & I think 8"s would of been a better choice. Like posted earlier I think the boxes I made were around .25-.30cu.ft. & I had to remove the rod that connects to both sides for seat adjustment. I made the top one piece so it gave me a place to mount the amp above the hot floorboard. [__]___[__] <This is kind of what it looks but upside down(hopefully that makes sense).

I used one of the alpine swrt-10 that billett recommended pushed by a fosgate power 1000. Its real punchy and is alot louder than you would think 1 10" would be but even with polyfill it has a hard time going low.

Im running one twelve under the passenger side of mine, shallow of course, and it pounds very well. the box is probably 14'x12x8
