Re: BBQ and old trucks. Happy 4th..

Nice! We had ribs as well. Our day wasn't so nice here though. We had some pretty severe thunderstorms with some really heavy rainfall. I think all fireworks shows were postponed.

BBQ for us here in California. Spare ribs and a pasta salad, just my wife, my daughter and her boyfriend, and me. It got up to about 85 degrees here today.

Wish you all the best!

Ya'll makin' a brutha hungry and I'm not even ethnic (despite my forum name)!

Son-in-law fired up the grill with some tasty farm animals. Bird, burgers, links. Potato salad, big pot of pinto beans, watermelon, other fruits, drinks, etc.

Rounded out the day watching the fireworks show from the church parking lot, tailgate on my '72 down, grand kids in the back of the truck with a nice cool breeze. Held my youngest grand daughter as she experienced her first 4th of July.

About as perfect a day as they come. Hope everyone had a great day and the opportunity to spend time with family.

Re: BBQ and old trucks. Happy 4th..

Barbeque with friends this afternoon, a little sirloin over some red oak coals. A killer salad my wife made, mashed potatoes made with sour cream in'em (tasty!) fresh toasted bread, watermelon and cantaloupe salad, and a blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Fireworks still going off pretty good here. Dog is freaking out a bit, but she will calm down when they stop. It's been unusually warm here, got up to 92 a couple of days ago; even today it was in the high 70's. Usually around 68-70 this time of year, with a nice breeze. But we'll take it.

Re: BBQ and old trucks. Happy 4th..

We went to the 4th of July celebration at the Berkeley California Marina for a while, then drove around sight-seeing. We stopped at Cold Stone for ice cream in Pacifica, then went to a celebration at the Pacifica park.

Setting at our son's waiting for pizza now.

Sure would like to have gone to Fred's for BBQ, but the drive would have been just too far, lol.

Re: BBQ and old trucks. Happy 4th..

We ended up NOT heading to Clovis (Ca) for the BBQ after all. I started with a killer "sandpaper throat". Pretty much the first time I've felt sick since I retired four plus years ago.
My woman fell down in the graage, for all the wrong reasons...It's the Fourth. I heard the Garbage Man....On the Fourth? She chased him with a can and fell over some truck parts
and the crumb-catcher pad in front of the work bench. Yikes!!!!

Then she woke me up from an Ibuoprofin (sp?) induced nap in the office to tell me that Painter Lee called and it was important....See, I'd e-mailed him with a suggested color-change.

She also told me that the sink sprung a slow leak and the new sliders underneath "may be ruined"...could'a been leaking for a while.

Aieeeee! Fourth of July BBQ? Cancelled.... for the Magwas, anyway.

Pizza from Round Table. And, I ate a piece of pie stolen from the newly baked apple pie that was our "entry fee" into the family BBQ....The kids came and picked up the rest of the pie,
the Texas Sheet Cake, and some other stuff The Woman Baked. She bakes.

And the painter? Throat or no throat, I called him back.

Lee said, "Good News - Bad News". "Bad: I already bought the paint". "Good: It's not on the truck yet."

He said, "Word of warning...People seem to want to change colors pretty often after they've already decided." "My history says to go with your initial gut shot".
"I'll change it if you say so." "But when I have in the past, folks say, maybe I should have gone with my first color." "That's when it can get expensive."

Stickin' with Palladium Silver Metallic (792). But, today, with all this other crap, I almost don't care.

Some days are like that....Yeah, they are.

The Woman's okay. Sore and bruised. But okay.

Oh man. Bill I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck. It seems some days it just don't pay to get out of bed. Glad your wife didnt' break anything.

Uh, you will be moving those truck parts, right?
Hope you have a better day today.

Re: BBQ and old trucks. Happy 4th..

I worked all day at a friend's place who has been having big 4th of July parties for 20 some years. Been working there all week and going today. Party's tomorrow. He built a party barn on his dad's farm (stores his restored tractors and Chevy Trucks the rest of the time). There's basically a band, but all sorts of musicians mix in and out all day/night. There's a pond to swim in,volleyball, horse shoes, other bean bag toss etc games, and food??? Holy smokes! What won't there be? It's a pot luck, then there's about 5 grilles going,a few smokers, and one feller (who's big into game hunting and deep sea fishing) deep fries all sorts if meats. My reward comes tomorrow. Last night I came home, got a shower, popped a beer and heated up shreaded chicken burrito meat I slow cooked the day before. Left overs are good! I hope all had a great 4th!!

Oh,I have been runnin' my '72 over there,so that fits the thread

Re: BBQ and old trucks. Happy 4th..

You guys are all shaming me. When I finally got done chopping and slicing, I took a shower. The wife came in from work, we ate and I passed plumb smooth out. I guess the local fireworks shows went off ok, I could not hear them for my snoring. Embarassing.
