64 camper/motorhome?

I'm picking this chevy up tomarrow and am not sure what todo with it, Heres some pics and lets here some input. The camper part is pretty sad but the cab and everything is pretty rust free.

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

Are you picking it up to use for a motorhome or? If you are going to restore it, it isn't that difficult. I helped a friend restore a motorhome a few years ago. He still uses it all the time when we go camping. EVERY time he pulls in to a campground now, people stop and check it out. The older campers are making a comeback. If you are just getting it for parts, make sure to offer the camper stuff on a camper / trailer website. That stuff seems to be getting harder to find for the people who actually want to keep them intact. I think it's cool and wish I had space to have one!

BTW, what is that 2nd pic? An 8 track? I'd probably upgrade to a cassette! LOL

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

It was a long day but we got it running and drove it home instead of trailering it, it runs great and my wife fell in love with it so it looks like were keeping it the way it is and fixing it up.

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

That camper is AWESOME!!! I want to get a camper for my truck one day but that would be even cooler to find one of these and just fix it up. You are for sure gonna be a head turner pulling in with that beast.

Nope it is a cassette player. I have not seen one of those in a LONG time. I don't think my daughter has ever used one.

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

The second pic is a 8 track and it has a tape deck in the cab, I'm going to see if the 8 track works and keep it in there if it does.

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

Lots of potential there Kyle, if you don't mind me asking what was the asking price? It looks like it is a Chinook coach maybe a 1 ton or 1 1/2 , let us know what drive train it has. Nice find..Vernski

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

It's a 1 ton with a v8 haven't figured out what motor yet and a 4 speed. It's got brand-new rv tires in the rear but the fronts are original and need replaced. The guy was asking $400 and I looked at it online forsale for almost a month before i decided I could use it for parts if anything so I went a hr away and checked it out and decided it was def worth what he was asking so I offered him $350. And we came back the next day wth a trailer but got it running after a few hrs of replacing things and drove it back.

Kyle, I do hope you keep this one for a long time.

It is HUGE, but I absolutely love the whole look of it.

Re: 64 camper/motorhome?

$350 is incredible! Looks like a super nice truck, and the camper even looks like it's in decent shape. Great find.

I know the pics of the inside don't show as much detail as putting our own eyeballs on it, but I think you've got a real jewel there! I would definitely keep it!

We were looking at campers right before we got this motorhome so we will soon be using it a lot.
