Heater Cutoff?
Now that summer is here I have my heater turned off at the controls on the dash but I'm still getting a fair amount of heat coming through the vent under the dash. I thought with the flap closed by the core I would be able to open the vent and get some cooler air to pass through into the cabin.
Any ideas on the best way to stop it? Should I install a valve on the heater hoses? Or, is the flap just stuck? It sure acts closed from the position of the arm connected to the cable. Thanks!

Re: Heater Cutoff?
Put a valve on in and out at the heater hose under the hood, most of us do this so the AC can run optimally.

Re: Heater Cutoff?
I just ordered 2 "FOUR SEASONS 84707 Heater Control Valve" off ebay
Payed 9 dollars for one and 11 for the other. Free shipping. Should take about 10 minutes to put in this weekend! Thanks for the tip! Scott

Re: Heater Cutoff?
I used one like this on the 5/8" feed hose: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-GMC-Ford...-/350585704301
I got a long cable and mounted it to the "Heat" lever on my deluxe heater controls. So now the lever not only closes and opens the air flap, but also closes and opens the fluid valve at the same time.

Re: Heater Cutoff?
I always use the one Argo shows. You can hook a cable to it or turn it manually.

Re: Heater Cutoff?
What happens when the water pump tries to push water through that hose? Doesn't closing that hose create back pressure on the water pump?

Re: Heater Cutoff?
I tried two valves that looked like picture; Murrey from Oreilly FWIR. They both leaked past the packing. I have since used ball valves from home improvement store and they have worked perfect for a few years now.
