Re: question regarding air ride....

Maybe the mods could move this to the suspension forum for some more responses. Folks are always willing to share pictures. My avatar pic is my '67 with air and no body drop. Just a small notch in the rear. There's some more shots of it in the video at the bottom of my signature.

Re: question regarding air ride....

Here's some pictures of my truck. I know it's not pretty, but it'll give you an idea of the difference from stock, to bagged - aired up and emptied.

I'm running the Porterbuilt stage 1 kits both front and back, stock arms & spindles, no notch.

Top pictures are stock with stock/original springs. Middle and bottom it's been bagged. Middle picture is aired all the way up (about 80 psi in the front and 50 psi in the back)- higher than ride height. Bottom picture is aired out completely - 0 psi.

Ive looked through that thread before. Lots of pictures, not too many descriptions. OP seems to be asking for a more specific picture...

Re: question regarding air ride....

Thanks so much matt!!! Im trying to get the body as close to the pavement as possible if i go the air ride route , so ive been trying to understand what limits it from getting there. I looked under the truck and it doesnt seem to have a huge frame hanging below the body of the truck. I dont mind cutting out the fenderwells in the bed and redoing them , front fenderwells.have already been removed so there shouldnt be issues in front I wouldnt think.

Re: question regarding air ride....

I am cool with notching the frame on this truck to get as low as possible out back.

So with drop spindles and bags in front itll lay crossmember??

Re: question regarding air ride....

Drop spindles and bags will lay the front crossmember, although you may need tubular arms or modify the original arms depending on the wheel and tires you run. Upgrading to a dropmember setup will let the frame lay all the way out, and your pinch weld will be 3/4 of an inch from the pavement. Porterbuilt even makes a bolt in body drop for these trucks that will let you lay pinchweld. Basically, the lower you want to go, the more expensive it is. The bad part is once you start lowering one, you want to go lower, and lower, and lower....

This is dope as hell. I'd rock this truck all day long. Kudos.

Re: question regarding air ride....

Thanks Colin ! Love your truck!!
Getting the pinch weld 3/4" from the pavement would be low enough for me. That would.get me the look im going for if I go the route of bagging it.
