Starting My '65 Burb

Here are some pics of my 1965 Suburban when we brought it home.
Always an Az truck we took it from Phx down to Yuma.
Looks like someone put in dash air & some of the under the hood stuff was still there. But of course the air vent & air tray were stripped. So were the seats & back up lights. So, just like everyone else, I'm on the hunt for those things. If anyone has any leads close to Az, please let me know.

Re: Starting My '65 Burb

Today we got busy cleaning the fire wall & frame. Lots of busted knuckles. Hy husband did most of the really dirty work, but I'm pretty filthy too. Gotta keep cleaning & then we can paint the frame rails.

Re: Starting My '65 Burb

Do you have a picture of what the middle vents should look like? I was going through my boxes of stuff this weekend and pulled a couple out that look like they might be about that size. I was wondering how they mounted since my burb is a non-ac dash. (guessing previous owner was going to retrofit it)

Here's a picture of the center air vent. They normally come in factory air trucks.

Re: Starting My '65 Burb

I "think" I had a couple of these out there. One had a small crack in the plastic part but didn't really take a good look at either one. I'll try to fish them out and see what I have.

Welcome to the forum

Looks like you found a fairly nice Burb to build. What are the plans for the engine and trans?

We are still working on cleaning up the firewall & frame for paint.
The drivetrain will be a LS 5.3 & 4L60E.

Re: Starting My '65 Burb

We patched the firewall and closed up all of the extra holes. Still trying to get it smooth enough for paint.

Also needed to clean up the motor. It had been in storage-outside-for a while. Lots of dirt & trash.

Wink Re: Starting My '65 Burb

Got a little sidetracked hunting down parts. Found this donor truck in Blythe Ca. It had the original front & 3rd seats. Not much else. Also had a lead on front bucket seats-when we got there to pick up, they didn't match. Still brought them home. Better one than none. I also picked up a deluxe steering wheel at the LA Roadster Show swap meet.
