Driveshaft
Does anyone know of any other vehicles that come with a 65 inch driveshaft center of u joint to center of u joint that will work in our short bed trucks? I just put a th350 in my 83 and the old one for the 700r4 is too short.trying to avoid having one made if possible .rear is a 10 bolt btw.thanks

Then you have a short shaft th350. You need a long shaft th350 and you can keep the original driveshaft.

Yeah I know that but this trans and engine came out of my drag car and I have put a lot of money in it and I don't want to get a whole other trans ,a drive shaft is a lot cheaper than another race prepped transmission.looks like ill just have to make one.

I made the same mistake when rebuilding my 74 GMC C1500. I bought a short shaft TH350 from Summit by accident. Luckily I was able to find a longer front drive-shaft section from the local pick & pull.

You can just have the tail shafts swapped between long and short transmissions hence keeping your nice trans. Or you can get a long bed driveshaft and have it cut down but I'm sure the critical speed no matter what you do won't be ideal unless you had the driveshaft custom made

Just go to Pic-A-Part with a tape measure and start crawling under General Moters vehicles. If no luck, move over to Fords. You are sure to find one that meets your requirements.
I have swapped to a T5 then added a ford 9inch and now a T56. Oh yea, also went from LWB to SWB and went through a few driveshafts and got all of them as factory parts from wrecking yard.

That's what I usually do ,I just being lazy .im off to u pullit to find one.i am in the process of building a 9 in for mine too but it will be a while before its done.then I get to doit all over again.
