We need some info from you. Namely the SPID "service parts indentification decal" on inside glove box door and VIN numbers on left door jam. Most 4 door cabs were built on 3/4 ton chassis, odd this appears to be a 1/2 ton.

Re: 1972 chevy crew cab

Hey guys I have my crew-cab and just got a one ton 86 long bed 4x4 frame, and im on my way...my frame has a clean crewcab 86 with a 90 front clip that I dont need but the guy wouldnt seperate it. so im stuck with it for the time being....but I got a 24 valve cummins a allison and doubler 203/205 trans cases. Im using the dana 60/70 dually axles from my 86 sub on my addy, air bags in the rear and arb lockers cross-over stearing....the frame I got was already set-up for a cummins swap it has a avalanche crossmember that eliminates the need for a body-lift on a 4x4 conversion.....after all that, my question is this ....Are you making it a short bed for sure ....im still undecided I have both beds.....im going with realllllly big wheels and tires so the longbed will probably look better......And i dont know why my pic of my cab wont load ill try again

Re: 1972 chevy crew cab

Yessir I am, for a year or two I didnt do much but now Ive thinned the herd down to about 8 68 to 72's and out of those 5 will live and the others are parts....My burb was mechanically perfect for my taste any-way but it was a rust-bucket...So I scrapped the body put the 72 big-block on ice and the th-475and gearvender also...But all of the running gear is already on my new 72 crew on a 86 one ton frame its a roller already. I set it up for a cummins/allison combo I have from a motorhome...But now im thinking about using a 06/07 duramax-allisson sister combo if I can make the deal happen....I got a set of 16.5 x9.75'' steal wheels from pickmup ''board-member''and at first it will roll on a set of 16.5'' military wranglers....im running a short bed and I may not need to cut the frame it turns out that the scot crewcab's are 11'' longer than a standard longbed...ive been adjusting things back and fourth and hell it looks like it was meant to be....Thank you for your interest...I should start my own build thread....I apologise for shoulder hopping this thread....Thank you ....Local13hutch.....

Re: 1972 chevy crew cab

Are you going to run a dually setup on your new truck? I have a Dana 70 with a disc brake conversion. I'm going to do my dually suburban still but I not sure if I'm going to get adapters or buy an dually rear.

I got side tracked with buying guns and toys lol but now I am back on task.

Is your 86 1 ton frame under your suburban a perfect swap for a 72? I'm getting worried about my shortened frame. I learned a lot about splicing and I would rather start over. I'd hate have my burb split in half towing my toyhauler.

Re: 1972 chevy crew cab

At first im runnig single wheels, im looking into having a set of 16.5''x8''dually wheels custom made.there is a company that makes fiberglass dually fenders and they can make them wider or thinner or longer or whatever I might go that rout for awhile...My sub frame was a 1/2 ton frame so I scrapped it.....I may put 53'' tires on this thing on 20'' military wheels''....I have a little house in the pismo area now and im building a 100' steel barn so the dunes are just a mile or so away....My kids love the idea....im putting a full cage in the cab and in the bed of the truck and running 2 sets of buddy buckets in the cab and 2 bench seats in the bed itself and I have a canvas shell and the sides rollup so my younger kids and grand kids can cruise in the back....it will be our sand wagon.....
