Original Jack, No Handle ?

I removed the gas tank in my 71 GMC to R&R the sending unit and found the birth certificate under the seat springs Whoopee ! Also found the unused factory jack still held in place by the spring hold down thingy. Only problem, no jack handle ? Can someone post a photo of proper handle and will later handles work.....thanks....wish you all a pleasant week-end....

It looks like this. I have one. It's really long, but it works well to get enough torque to raise the vehicle. I used my factory jack and handle last week to lift up the truck onto jack stands for my brake project. Worked well

Re: Original Jack, No Handle ?

On the other hand, does your jack look like the one in the second picture in post #4 of this thread? (The jack in my '67 GMC is that type.)

If it does then all you're missing is the lug wrench.

I picture a scenario in the 70's, where the family is on their way to the Grand Canyon, in the truck with a camper loaded to the gills. They get a flat, pull over, look at the owners manual that points out the jack and handle are in that canvas bag behind the seat, and proceed to remove the contents from the bag on the side of the road in 105 degree heat. The kids are whining and the wife is b!tching, as the guy sweats it out. A gust of wind from a passing 18 wheeler blows the canvas bag away, never to he seen again. Once the flat is fixed, the jack and handle are thrown in the nearest spot in the back of the camper, and away they go. After they return from the trip, the wife cleans out the camper, and parts get put in bins that go to the basement, never to be seen until a cleaning crew throws the bins in a huge Got Junk dumpster, when the remaining 90 year old spouse croaks over.

I seem to recall trying the 73 and up handle and found that it will work, but I think it is too long to fit vertically in the storage location in the cab corner. Perhaps someone can verify.

Re: Original Jack, No Handle ?

After reading this thread I had to look again. I thought this foam was a poor attempt of sound deadener. But after looking again its the original bag for the jack supplies string and all. Well shoot won't let me upload the pic. But I have it! Lol
