What's a factory shortbed worth??

I've decided my shortbed may be too much work for me to salvage. It's not in horrible shape but thinking of starting with something a little better. Talked to a guy that says he has one in really good shape.

Before I go look at it, just curious what price range would be resonable for something that is fairly straight with little to no rust? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Here in Ga I've see them close to $1000 but out in your part of the country I would think they would be less ,they are hard to find here in decent condition.

If its fairly straight with no rust why do you want to start with a different one???

Re: What's a factory shortbed worth??

Thanks flashed.

BurnoutNova - I guess because I have never done body work before. The front bed wall is rusted out under the top curve and both side panels are creased at the tail light area. Not sure what shape the bed floor is in because it's covered in caked on grease and dirt...

Re: What's a factory shortbed worth??

In last couple of years (when I used to have beds in stock ) I had sold numerous 67-72 short fleet beds that need some work in the neighborhood of 700.00 to 1,000., the original "super clean" beds in factory paint I had no problems selling them in $1,300 range. Super clean tailgates go for big dollars too.

Yeah it's crazy what a clean bed can go for. I sold a perfect original paint bed with pristine original wood and tailgate for $2000.00 and he got a deal at that price. thats how nice this bed was..... you can't keep them all, right Rene...

Re: What's a factory shortbed worth??

I paid ~ $300 for mine. Horrible floor ("barrel rolled"), bent front bed panel, and crappy aftermarket tailgate, but good bedsides that need a little rust repair.

Re: What's a factory shortbed worth??

wow. seeing this, makes me wish i had snagged up the few ive seen lately on my search for a c10. I have come across 3 beds, every one for less than 1,000 and all were in decent to mint shape!
