1977 stepside fuel filler hose questions

hi.

newbie here.

I have a 1977
c10
stepside
l6 250

recently purchased the truck and am replacing all of the hoses ,belts, etc.

I got to the fuel filler hose (driver side), and found that it is way old and needs to be replaced asap.

but, i have searched this forum and the net and can't find a true replacement hose for a stepside.

I have found threads where people have rigged different things - the simplest being to use the a hose found at oreilly auto parts or amazon (if they have it in stock) gates universal bendable hose.

so, my questions.

(1) what is the inside diameter of a 1977 type filler hose?
it appears there are several sizes, and different threads mention different sizes (which I can't understand) of this type of hose.
I know I can take the hose off, but once I do I fear it is not going back on, and if I can't find a replacement, I am 'hosed' (pun intended).

(2) has anyone used this universal bendable hose for a stepside with success?

(3) since the outside of the hose has 'ribs' what kind of clamp would one use to hold the hose in place?

thanks!

They don't make replacements so its pretty much up to the owner to fab something up to work

Re: 1977 stepside fuel filler hose questions

I had a heck of a time with this. The gas tank inlet on my truck has a smaller diameter than the filler neck. I had a filler hose from a fleetside that had a smaller diameter on one side than the other. I combined that hose with one of the L shaped Gates hoses mentioned in the other thread. I had O'Reilly's order all of the part numbers, but only bought the one that fit. I put them together with conduit and hose clamps. It doesn't leak and seems to work okay. I would rather have the right hose, but apparently no one sells it anymore.

I will have to do the other side when I get around to putting in the other tank.

Here is what I ended up with:
