I was looking in this craigslist ad and the hood looks a little weird. Was this a Hickey style hood? http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/pts/3910443622.html

hello, im 15 and trying to learn. what exactly is a Hickey style hood? is it rare? is it aftermarket? what makes it special?

By the looks of the pic instead of going up in the center section between yhe headlights it goes down.

Personally, I don't find it appealing. I don't think I've ever seen one..... Is it factory?

Not factory, was an aftermarket hood.

Vic Hickey was one of the leading designers/builders on the off road/Baja circuit.The hoods (which were also available for the 67-72 trucks) were designed to improve visibility.His company made a lot of off road accessories...including the sidewinder winch

I kinda like it, kinda gives it a look reminiscent of the old Scouts and Broncos, in my opinion. I'm not going to buy one, but I don't think I would toss it if I had it...

One of the fiberglass hood/fender companies still makes this hood for the 73-87s. (maybe only 73-80 or 81-87)

I like them but I am into the old school stuff. Styles and preferences change. I can't imagine anyone missing the 90s neon colors and stripes but I am sure some people do! I grew up around squarebody trucks so the 70s stuff is my time period.
