Mcgaughy's 2.5/4" Drop
I was about to purchase the mcgaughy's 2.5/4" drop kit and I noticed there are 2 of them one or light duty and one or heavy duty brakes. How do I know if i Have LD or HD? I have an 83 C10 2wd short all stock. Thanks Ryan

Re: Mcgaughy's 2.5/4" Drop
Measure the rotor width.
1" = light duty. 1.25" = HD.

Re: Mcgaughy's 2.5/4" Drop
That will do it.
Most EVERYONE that uses that shackle/hanger kit to lower the rear 4" always wish they had gone lower. A flip kit is easier to install,... but will lower the rear 5"-6".

Re: Mcgaughy's 2.5/4" Drop
So they wish they had gone with a 5" because they don't like the uneveness of the front and back or its just not low enough for them? I am trying to achieve the look of the truck owned by fellow member melks. I know that he used a leaf spring to achieve the drop in the back at 4" and drop spindles in the front to get the 2.5". I am trying to keep it a little cheaper since I don't need to replace the leaf springs. I have attached a picture of his truck since they are identical this what mine should look like when dropped with 2.5/4. But if there is any reason the mcgaughy's kit won't achieve this look please let me know. Thanks Ryan

Re: Mcgaughy's 2.5/4" Drop
One thing I dislike about McGaughy spindles is they don't drill and tap the holes for the backing plates. How are you supposed to install the backing plate without holes? It's a pain in the rear to have to do this with a drill, buy another brand McGaughy=cuts corners to save a dime

Since I am trying to achieve the same look I might as well purchase the same items right....... So is there anything else I would need if I purchase this kit from western? Going with the spindle and leaf
