350/700r4 combo worth?
I'm thinking about selling my current combo to a friend and doing a ls swap sooner than expected. I just bought the truck a few months ago so all the info is from the PO. Here's what I know according to him
350 4 bolt main with around 55k total miles. 3k ish miles since new bearings, rings and head gaskets. Motor came out of a 88-89 silverado. Does not have vortec heads Small 260ish lift cam. No other info available Serpentine setup from 93 suburban Holley single bore intake Edelbrock 650 carb with electric choke I'll assume stock 700r4 and converter (forgot to ask details) Rusted up headers and cheap exhaust Please forgive me if some of my terminology is off. I'm new to old stuff. I can get more info and casting numbers if necessary but it will take a few weeks since I'm out of town working. Thanks for all the help, Tim Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by SeTx67; 07-17-2013 at 11:58 PM. |

its a used engine and trans. You may know the history but no one else does. Just saying,,, You got to remember that a new crate engine from gm with a 36 thou or three year warranty can be had for 1700.00 and rebuilding one is going to be in the low to mid teens cost and thats what a person has in mind when buying a used one. Anyway good luck with your sale.

Re: 350/700r4 combo
Here is my opinion....
A 350 crate with 36K warranty is $1500.00, plus all the accessories, your looking around $1900. A rebuilt 700r4 is around $800, plus convertor. So if your friend had nothing and was buying like above, he/she would be forking out about $2900 plus install...yes that is with warranty on everything yes So as I see it, your setup ( provided it runs good and checks out well ( compression check and all that) I would ask $1500. you may take it on the chin, but I think that is a reasonable start point. I sold a weak 350 with a newly rebuilt 400 for $750, it was complete from top to bottom and did run well but had bad compression and fouled plugs. Good luck to you and your friend!

Re: 350/700r4 combo
Thank you
$1500 is about where we're at but that was mostly a guess on our part. I just want both of us to feel like we got a good deal The friend in question is also a board member and will be putting it in a really nice truck. We'll do a compression test and let him drive it in my truck before agreeing on a price. Posted via Mobile Device |
