I this rare/hard to get?

Poking through a wrecking yard a few days ago and I came across someone's beloved Cheyenne c10. Has the yellow trim 76 pr 77 only? that's all perfect and a factory sport bumper up front with impact guards. This truck is immaculate except for its leading demise...hole in side of engine. I was going to pull the cab and body trim off carefully an my friend already bought the tailgate with a perfect no dent tailgate panel and perfect tailgate.

Other than the trim and bumper is the emblems rare/hard to get? Has a woodgrain interior too.

Can I pull the impact strips off and drill for the holes in a regular bumper?

Re: I this rare/hard to get?

Yellow trim is '77 only. So it is "rare-er" in the sense it was only offered one year. No telling what the survival rate is.

Bumpers are hardened spring steel. Very difficult to "drill" a traditional hole in them. Usually you have to torch them or cut with a carbide wheel.

When you remove the guards, the proper holes are there to bolt onto any truck. FYI though, sometimes the chrome is marked up from the bumper guards.

Re: I this rare/hard to get?

Owning 2 1977 GMCs I can tell you the yellow trim is my favorite as it was only one year. I don't consider it rare or desirable though. In most cases it needs repainted and even on NOS pieces I have seen different colors of yellow so to look right it all needs done the same color. I have no issues at all buying black and repainting it the correct yellow. What is comes down to is if the trim is in really nice shape. I have always liked the impact strips as well. Just never wanted to undertake he amount of work it would take to mount them on a non drilled bumper

Never mind, my bad, misunderstood what you wanted to do.

All the trim is there and in excellent shape. No reprainting necessary

As for the interior the arpet and seat are gone but the rest is immaculate

Re: I this rare/hard to get?

If you touch up the trim/emblem with model paint how will i protect it?
