Re: 66 327 4bbl air cleaner question

My PCV comes out of the back of the carb and runs to the rear of the engine. My exhaust manifolds are drilled for air tubes, but are plugged. I will take some pictures.

This is very important. The correct, original style air cleaner won't work on anything but a 4GC carburetor.

Re: 66 327 4bbl air cleaner question

Does anyone out there have an air cleaner base for a 4 jet carb that I could buy? I need a base to cut apart and weld to a larger based air cleaner. it is the 50's Cadillac type that I have painted and pinstriped. I want to use that original carb, and also want to use the air cleaner I have. An old base in decent condition would be fine.

Re: 66 327 4bbl air cleaner question

I was able to pick up a nice restored air cleaner on CL yesterday. Someone did a great job of modifying the base to fit a Q Jet carb. I will need to trade that off for an original base to fit my smaller Rochester carb.

Re: 66 327 4bbl air cleaner question

1966burb: Have a machine shop turn up an aluminum spacer ring. Then you could keep it and maybe use it on another carb some day. I want to modify mine, but dont want to cut it. Mine needs to be bigger. What size hole do you have? I might be interested in it.

This is how it looks modified for a Q jet.
