How many 3 on the tree 4x4's out there???

This question comes about from another thread where someone on ebay sold a divorced 205 transfer case out of a 73 chev and we dont believe it to be true. I have a 73 with the rare 3 on the tree and it is not divorced. So how many 3 on the tree 67-72 4x4's are out there by chance? And is it divorced? I have only seen 1 so far....

Those 3 speed Blazers will have a married Dana 20 transfer case. 3 speed 4X4s are not that rare in the '67 - '72 era, and you will find a lot of them all the way to the late '70s. My Blazer was also a 3 speed/Dana 20 when I got it.

Bruce,
i had a 71 1/2 ton 4x4 with the 3 speed/205 combo and it was a married unit. i thought the last year for a divorced t-case was 66 in chevy/gmc trucks. dodge and ford both ran divorced t-cases well into the 70s.

I parted 2. Both 72 SWB trucks. One was a 250, the other a 307. Both had NP205 married cases.

I HAD a 3-on-the-tree 4x4. It was a married NP205 combo. After I swapped that combo out for a th350/np205 I sold the transmission to a board member from Iowa. He said he also had one with a tranny that was going bad.

My 69 K20 was a factory 3 on the tree married to a Rockwell T221. Now it's a 4 on the floor married to the same Rockwell.

Hey Yukon, what do you think of that Rockwell t-case? I've always heard that they are wonderful, incredibly stout t-cases that you'll love... unless you ever break anything in them in which case you will curse them trying to get parts...

Talking

I changed my 71 plow truck to an automatic, but it was an original three on the tree 4x4. It has the married NP 205, (I still have the setup).

I believe all 4x4s in 1972 with a 307 came standard with a 3 spd. I have a 72K10 that came original with a 307 3 spd, married. I swapped in a 4spd and a 350.
