'72 original wrecker with lights and all

Went to the scrap yard yesterday and saw an all original 1 ton wrecker, complete with bed, boom, big front bumper, lights and all, I have called to speak with the owner before he crushes it, what would be considered a fair price, I don't need it but want to try to save it, body looks straight

that is what I was going to offer him but really just making it aware for everyone in case someone may be interested, just hate to see it crushed

Some are easier to get parts for than others.

Is this in Texarkana? Let me know what he says if you don't pick it up, price wise. Also some pics if you can get them. Thanks. Jim

Re: '72 original wrecker with lights and all

The yard owner should be willing to sell for any amount as much as or slightly more than scrap value, cuz scrap value is all he'll get otherwise. I just sold mine and I wish I didn't have to

Re: '72 original wrecker with lights and all

Just remember, those wrecker boxes with the boom and winch are GOD aweful HEAVY!!! I'd love to know what a small wrecker weighs.

I had to pay a grand to get my wrecker from a junkyard here and it was in poor condition.

Makes sense to me though as he would have sold many parts off of it, then sold it for the scrap. Probably worked out about right value wise for him.

Re: '72 original wrecker with lights and all

Is this a scrap yard or a junkyard?
