Anyone using this Ebay Store HEI?

I was thinking about buying one of these HEIs from this ebay store and was wondering if anyone else has bought one and if so had anything good or bad to say? Thanks.

And that is fine if you are capable of checking the shaft bushings, flyweight bushings, wiring, and other misc. things that are usually worn out on the salvage yard components. I can get them free at the salvage yard close to me but I usually end up having to re-build them to make them right. It's amazing how much worn bushings can make your timing jump around.

Re: Anyone using this Ebay Store HEI?

Hum.... I would be very liery of this for a DD that you plan on putting lots of miles on it. This is a very cheap China-crap unit. I think you would will better off going to a junk yard getting a unit and then replacing the module and pick-up coil, spark coil.
This my be a great deal on a great HEI unit, but it may very well not be. If you do pop for it, let us know how it turns out. After all it is only 37.50. Give us a full review.

I have 2 of them, zero problems. You can't beat the price, and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

Bought 3 of them, installed one in a driver truck and sold the other 2 to friends and have had no complaints.

Re: Anyone using this Ebay Store HEI?

I bought a Skip unit for my test engine. It runs fine but I would be interested on longevity. These have only been on the market a short time. I have a GM HEI out of a 75 Chevy that had close to 80K. I put it in my 69 and ran it another 20-30K before I dismantled the truck. Engine needs a rebuild but HEI still ran good.

Re. cheap salvage yard HEI's. Over here, they're not that cheap. I haven't seen them for less than $40.

Re: Anyone using this Ebay Store HEI?

If you spent that much cash on building your SBC... why would you fathom a $50 dollar china made distributor?

The Skip White crap is the exact same crap as procomp... just in a different box.

How about one of the Richporter Technology distributors? I see they are around $75 shipped. I've heard their stuff is pretty good quality.

Re: Anyone using this Ebay Store HEI?

I bought a skip white dist a few years back for the 72 swb step. It only has about an hiur of run time, but so far so good. I didnt know it was Chinese made at the time or i probably would have dropped a little more coin for a US made one. I guess I should have known it was imported for that price.

Re: Anyone using this Ebay Store HEI?

Along with what LockDoc said, a unit from the boneyard is probably going to have that screwy advance curve from the "ported vacuum" days. So you would need to be able to fix the advance too.
This is one of the factors that brings a lot of guys here with timing problems.

It's not that I am in favor of the off shore stuff, but the old "factory" stuff is no prize either.

I have not bought a distributor from them but i bought a stroker kit that was all top shelf items and had no problems. Just research there product brands before you buy.
