I am wanting to replace the rubber around my vent windows. How difficult is it to do this? Any tips or pointers.

you have to buy a rivet kit from lmc trucks because you have to remove the factory rivets to take vent frame apart to put new rubber seals in.I think you tube has a video showing how to do this procedure.takes 2 people.one to hold frame together and the other to hammer the rivets back in..MAKE SURE you use the right drill bit size to remove the factory rivets..you don't want to drill them too big because there is no tolerance with rivet fitment.take your time and you will be ok.take pics on which way vent glass w/frame goes into main vent channel frame.It can be a little confuseing..good luck

It's a hassle for sure. I got a spare set that I rebuilt then replaced my original windows. You can also use pop rivets for reassembly. You don't have to remove the rivet that holds the hinge in place along the outer frame. The new rubber can be tough to introduce into the track around the window - get some KY jelly to help pop it into place. Tape off the paint atop the door to avoid scratches. Replace the window sweeps at the same time as these will likely get damage in removal to get the vent window frame out. If the glass is secure and not damaged don't remove it from the frame. The lowest bracket that secures the frame to the door does not need to be removed from the frame - just pry off the weatherstrip from the rivets that hold it in place. Good luck!

Use pop rivets as Pete described. You do not need to remove the pivot rivet at the hinge, remove the bracket as a whole and use pop rivets to re attach the bracket. Use Precision brand weatherstripping (GMCPaul and Classicheartbeat carry it). Fits like NOS and I did not need any lubricants to pop them on. There are great write ups in FAQ that describe the removal and reinstallation of the assembly's from the door.
