few questions about 90 k2500

As the title says I have a 1990 k2500 mostly stock with a leveling kit and 33x12.5's. It has a 350 with the 4 speed. My questions:

The thing rides like a tank, no suspension at all, very stiff, what are my options to improve ride quality?

i hate the tranny set up now. Its gutless. When hauling a trailer I have nothing. Im screaming down the highway in 3rd gear. What are my options there as far as tranny swap or re-gearing the axles? I believe it has 3.73 now, how to I check?
