por15 with or without undercoating

Got all the rust repair on the floor done and got it por15. Should I put a undercoat on top of that or just run in with the por15 on it?? Thanks!

Re: por15 with or without undercoating

I'm interested to see what opinions folks have. I've done the same thing, I have POR-15 on the bottom of my cab as well. The more I've thought about it, the more I think I'd like to go back and put on a coat of rubberized undercoating over the POR-15, even though I didn't prep the POR-15 for a top coat, which will make doing so difficult at this point on mine.

Re: por15 with or without undercoating

I plan on using either undercoat or bed liner on top of mine. The POR 15 will likely discolor over time. Ive read of it discoloring even if its not in direct sunlight.

Re: por15 with or without undercoating

You could spray it with second skin sound deadener. Just a thought, they advertise it as an undercoat as well. That would help with keeping the cab quiet as well as undercoating the truck. I haven't used it but it looks like a fine idea looking at their website. http://store.secondskinaudio.com/spectrum/

Re: por15 with or without undercoating

You should be able to spray it with etch primer and then top coat with whatever you like.

From the factory these are red oxide primer from what I heard so that's an option if you want the factory look.

I personally wouldn't use undercoat. Most people want to get rid of that stuff on old cars/trucks rather than add it. How about just an etch prime and a coat of semi gloss black?

Your choice...

Por-15 has a paint called "Hard Nosed", it goes on after you use por-15. I used it in the bed of my truck and like it!
