5.3 / th350 ?

Alright guys kinda new to the forum been stalking for awhile but this will be first real post about my 69 c10 lwb. bought the truck out of need and its a 69 c10 win/win right? Well it has a 350 of unknown origin that is on its last leg. its backed by a th350 that seems pretty solid so far. stock suspension.drum/drum upgraded to power. power steering. and the body needs attention. I live in wisconsin so this thing looks half way decent for what it has seen in its 44 years. anyway been researching the ls swap and may have found a motor. its a 5.3 out of a suburban. its all there on the motor side of things but needs a head gasket. i want to run it with the fuel injection so i need the harness and ecm. my real question is about running it with the th350 behind it and keeping it fuel injected. now before i get the just buy a 4l60e and be done with it comments i am on zero budget. the 4l60e will happen just not now. its my daily driver so need reliable motor now and will upgrade as i can afford. wow long winded sorry, so 5.3/th350? How? Where to start?

If it needs a head gasket id pass on that 5.3 if it was over heated enough to blow the head gasket the head is probably cracked too. And ,your talking about some money to fix it. Id look for a better 5.3

I would agree. I would just buy a 5.3 that is ready to go. other than that if you are new to 5.3 swaps here is a good place to get your harness reworked/get a new harness and tune the computer:

Re: 5.3 / th350 ?

just finnishing a 6.0/turbo350 swap in my 68 , you will need a converter spacer and 6 longer bolts for the flexplate to crank
