newer cd deck install help.
So, i have a 70 c10 that i purchased about 6 months ago. i just recently bought a new cd deck for it and want to install it. the PO had an aftermarket radio in there previously so the dash was already cut out. now my problem is that i have no way to support the rear of the unit when i place it in and im not sure how or where to get the trim that goes around the unit to cover the hack job the PO owner did....any suggestions?

I don't think you need to support the back of the radio. You can try this to cover the hack job.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...77#post6084077

that looks like it would work perfectly but its a little more than what i wanted to spend. Im thinking i might be able to fabricate something like that though, thanks!

Re: newer cd deck install help.
I've just put a kenwood head unit in my '69. The PO had also hacked at the dash!!!!
Under the radio opening there is a small, solid ledge between the radio opening and the ashtray opening I bonded a small piece of timber onto this ledge, placed a small amount of silicone onto the timber and then pushed in the new radio and let it sit onto the silicone. It now sits level and secure. Once the radios in and trim ring is on it looks perfect. Posted via Mobile Device |
