383 375HP 400+ Tourque ...What trans?
Buying a 383 like the header says at the end of the year, 69 C10 Stepside, the truck is old so most mechanical/moving parts are getting replaced. Cutting corners on cheap **** usually bites me in the ass, so we're not trying to go that route.
1. I live in SD, lots of highways, T56 overdrive ???? Pass on the 4L80E's.... 2. Reinforce the frame? 3. Rear end is 3.73, who makes a reliable fresh kit to replace the old? 4. Its going to be DD/ and a frequent autocross contestant at Qualcom!!! 5. Anyone who has done something similar, let me get your input. Thanks in advance. J

I'm definitely going MT when I restore my truck. Until then it's good ol' TH350.

TCI streetfighter is a bad azz tranny. Mine has held up to many years of 3200 rpm launches at the track with 456 posi rear on mt street slicks.

X2. 700r4. It will give you that launch off the line and in the auto cross, then an overdrive to compensate on the freeway and for the 3:73.
I'd stall it about 2800 rpm (don't know your cam/intake specs) Posted via Mobile Device

Considered going with a 200-4R from Hughes Performance, but mine isn't a daily driver so right now I can't really justify the cost. I'll stick with the TH350. Nice swap though with 200-4R. No driveshaft modification. Drop it right in. Maybe change to trans mount position. Also, according to them there is no problems with TV set up due to their internal design. Would have to research it again as it's been a while.

The TREMEC TKO (500 or 600) is a proven performer. The T56 is in the same boat. Thousands of them on the road & track. I've run a TKO500 in two different trucks, one a small block, one a big block, both with 3.73's.

Judging by all the views, I suspect most were looking for some truck porn HAHA sorry no pics of the engine yet. Those of you with responses thank you for them. YES 100% a manual tranny!!! TKO 500,600,or the T56 are all monsters.
Thanks Jay
