Anyone ever connect a 7 pin connecter to their truck?

I'm looking to install a 7 pin connector in my truck but not sure where to start. I have a hitch but not sure where to start on the wiring. Should I just wire it from the fuse box or what?
Thanks in advance.

All depends on what you want to tow they make a nice adapter the plug into the rear harness and chassis harness. It has three wires both turn wires and stop wire also ground. If you are using electric brakes you run a single 10/12 gauge blue wire from controller to 7 way socket. The other wires are 12v from key (to charge brake away battery or interoir lighting) and back up lights. Hope this helps I have put many trailer sockets on.

I agrre with the adaptor "T" for the basic stuff. When it comes to the wire that charges the battery 12vpos I wire a relay under the hood so that wire is only hot when key is turned to the on position. That way the camper/trailer battery can't drain the vehicle start battery

Tim, I love that site, it has info that I keep in a file and when I'm doing trailer wiring I'm never where the file is. Now I have a portable schematic reference. Thanks!!

Here's a link to the adaptor for the basic 4 wire setup and another link to some decent wiring diagrams on the Hopkins website. Just clip of the end connector on the included harness and wire it into the 7-pin connector as shown in the diagrams. Then wire the other 3 wires as stated above. eTrailer should have all you need.
