Hello Jerry,

Would that unit fit my 90 GMC Sierra 4x4 with the Z71 Offroad Package? I'm not sure what I have in there now, just got the truck for my son, any way of telling from the VIN # what ratio is in there and if it's a posi?

Thanks,
72

72,
if you pull the vin and give it to your local dealer they can tell you what you have in there.

Jerry,
I will do that monday morning, but still need to know if that Gov-Lock is the right one for my housing? What's the difference Between a Gov-Lock, and a Posi? Is it better than an open rear? How does it compare to a Limited Slip rear? What ratios will that 3.73 carrier accomodate, lower and higher?

Thanks Jerry,
72longbed

In my signature you'll see a link for GM RPO Codes. If you still got the sticker in the glove box, look up all the RPO codes on there and it will tell you the gear ratios and alot of other information about the truck.

Well, off the top of my head, this WILL be a direct bolt in to your truck if you have G80 and GT4 in your glove box. G80 is the gov-lock, and GT4 is the RPO for 3.73s.

A good resource for all sorts of late model info is the message board at www.fullsizechevy.com
