front sway bar issues - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I realize this has been beat to death,but I bought a supposed large '82 c-30 bar( wasn't, it was 27MM) for my '67 c-10.I got the insulators(#3927019),and brackets(#334671) from my local Chevy dealer.The bar diameter doesn't bother me it is the width.It was 1 1/2" to wide? doesn,t look bent! From outside to outside of the bar measures 40" should be about 38 1/4" by my calcs.Anyone have some info? I can't be sure this is even a bowtie bar. Looks like one,but... I can't seem to upload pics( computer illiteriate among others).I searched for suspension threads to no avail. I know there is a ton of front bar threads for 67-72's.AAAh any help appreciated!

Can't help with the bar size but I can try and explain how to upload pictures.

When your posting scroll down until you see manage attachments. Click on it and a window pops up with 5 browse windows in it. Click on the browse tab and then pic your picture. U can load up to 5 pictures at a time to each reply.

my picture was 5 kb to big ,so I'll just update.I forgot the frame brackets (#6271375) for the bushings and straps to bolt to. All told I've got $100. in the whole thing!! The only part that was use is the bar. Took it for a cruise today. Like everyone says best $100. and time spent.No more hangin'on.Thanks for the information and will to get it done by the threads on this site!! Thanks again,way cool!!!

If the picture is to big open it in paint. Then click image and click on Strech/skew drop it down until it will upload.

$100 seems like a lot for those bushings which I'm assuming is stock rubber. I used these Blue bushings from NAPA which are not nearly as dense as the Red bushings. It was a lot of years ago and I don't recall what I paid.

I don't know if that price is for a pair. Those are for the frame and there is another part# for the end pieces.

I had the 1 1/16" (27mm) and changed it to the 1 1/4" (32mm) with the Blue bushings and it made a big difference in cornering.

All total $100. The used bar was $25/the bushings and straps were $30,the frame brackets were $46.I used some grade 8 bolts I already had. The bar must have been bent,because I had t use a come-along to pull the bar in shape.(We'll see how that wears).
