Help with 63 283 engine ID - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hello. New member here. I have a 63 short wide that I am looking at. The owner says it's all original. I asked for the numbers on the 283 block. The casting number is 58-62, seems to be right year. However, another number (T408d) appears on the block. I read that the "d" indicates it was mated with powerglide. The truck has a 3 speed. Can anyone tell me about this code? Suggest a better way to authenticate originality of the motor?
