12 bolt truck questions
Hi guys, im Geting ready to start building my 12 bolt truck rear end and I have a few questions, I know that a car and truck 12 bolt are a different animal but I know some things interchange. So my build goes like this aftermarket axles, c clip eliminators, spool and 456 gears and ill weld the housing to the tubes. I called stranged and they said that their spool interchanges between both the car and truck 12 bolt rear end and said I need to order gears for a series 4 carrier so im wondering should I get car gears or truck gears? I know u can put car gears in a truck rear end with the proper pinion bearing, but are the car and truck series 4 gears the same? Thanks for any info

Re: 12 bolt truck questions
Not sure on the gear selections but I've read that c-clip eliminators are not a great idea if you plan to drive many miles on the street. Its better to get the weld-on ends and the axles to go with them. But since you are getting a spool maybe you are building a race-only truck anyway.
Isn't the pinion diameter smaller on the truck gears? |

Re: 12 bolt truck questions
Thanks for the reply .as far as the spool and c clip eliminators I've owned the truck for 5 years and has less then 1000 street miles on it and no rain driving due to the street slicks. The engine im building now should be around 700hp so I need Somthing strong.

Re: 12 bolt truck questions
Yes the pinion is smaller on the truck gears not interchangeable with car gears.

Re: 12 bolt truck questions
The car pinion is thicker than the truck pinion.

Re: 12 bolt truck questions
I relize that but moser sells an adapter bearing so wouldn't the car pinion be stronger?
