Speedo cable
I went to plug the speedo cable in the other day and found it's now to short. The truck went from the inline 6 and saginaw 3 speed to a small block with a TH 350. It only needs to be about 4" longer than what I have right now. Anyone else run into this issue? and was there a good donor truck to pull one from? I was thinking a 67-72 might have a longer cable on it.

Re: Speedo cable
I've done the same conversion without a problem
Try running the housing through a lower hole You can get a extension housing, just make the cable longer

Re: Speedo cable
Measure the length you need, go to the parts store and measure 66 and up, pretty sure they are all the same. I think I bought the entire assembly for a 67. You may need to change out the gears inside the trans, pull the cover if you do. They come in different colors based on the gearing. Info here.

Re: Speedo cable
Early 70's (and maybe later) 4wd have a 12" extender on the regular truck cable because the drive in on the back of the transfer case which replaces the rear housing tranny output housing. It screwed right on the stock 59 cable.
