Just fishing here but what are some manual transmission options for a v3500 4 x 4. Something heavy duty but would love an overdrive 5th gear. Any recommendations for a good way to go? Thanks

nv3500/4500 with a transfer case.

A nv4550 will fit your needs but might need a adapter to run your t case.

DO not us a 3500... these barely lasted anytime in v6 1/2 tons.

I beat on mine with a cammed 350, seems to handle it fine.

I've done my share of miles in a 350 powered truck with an NV3500 with no problems, but its no transmission suited for a 1 ton.

An NV4500 is the choice here.

Thanks for the responses. I am needing a little top end help but know that a manual shift can help bottom end wheeling ability as well, so I am just fishing what my options might be. I am not a hardcore wheeler but would hate to limit myself with a poor choice.

Are you sure you have a 3500? A 4500 was avaible in 1/2 as well... I owned a 94 4.3L 4x4 that had a factory 4500.

If you stay out of 5th, you might make it last... might.
