hello from NJ
Hi
Picked up a nice 72 Cheyenne a few weeks ago. Got it in Mississippi and drove it back to NJ from a good friend's place in Alabama where we prepped it for the 1000+ mile return trip north. Will post a few more pics but it's a dark green repaint over the original olive. Pretty original condition otherwise, 350/350. Factory AC, gauges including tach (except vacuum) and the usual minor modifications that get made over 42 years of service. Found a surprise in the secondaries of the Qjet - the PO cautioned against a sticky throttle and I found out why. Someone left a shop rag stuffed in there. Once that came out (mostly intact) the carb settled down. Fixed some vacuum leaks and made the AL->NJ trip in one go. No problem en route except boredom from a drive I've made more than a few times in the past several years. Going to attempt attaching a picture of it & will look for more today. Good board here, been reading up for a bit before saying hello. PS this is my second 67-72 truck. Owned a 70 GMC with 250/3 in the tree for a summer in the late 80s. Was a total rust bucket but always ran. Probably still running around somewhere unless the Illinois salt finally ate it up. Patrick. |
