39 gmc

I haven't bought this yet, a 39 General Motors 1 1/2 ton truck was a flatbed that's gone just bare frame behind the cab. All the glass is in it as are the w/w the front grill & headlights are gone, but the hood & front fenders are there. I have not been to look it over yet it's on craigslist a little ways from here. It looks like the paint is real faded and only surface rust. It has a rear end in it but not sure if it has a trans or motor. the sale price was $800 and of course would like some idea if it was worth that it would have to be trailered. One thing I was wondering is the fit-ment of the cab and front end the same as 1/2 and 3/4 tons. Thanx for any answers..Vernski

The cab and the hood should be the same. The fenders are larger. They can be used on a smaller truck but hard to get them to look right with little tires. The grill (that is does not have) should also be the same but I believe is a 1 year only grill. I know in the Chevy the grill was 39 only. I think a 40 would work but is different. The 39 and 40 cabs are the same as far as I know. 41-46 are a little different. In my area that would be a good deal but trying to find a 39 GMC front end would be a long hard journey around here.

Re: 39 gmc

Like Todd said, the fenders on the 1.5 are a lot wider. I have one that I haven't done anything with yet. Just trying to decide what to do with it. Mine's in pretty bad shape but I only paid $100 for it with no title.

One way to kinda solve the wide fender issue would be to mount it on a 4x4 and run wide wheels/tires like this one:

I don't remember where I got the pics of that 4x4 but I saved them for an idea for mine.
