15" rims on a 1/2 ton

As the title says is anyone running 15" steel rims and if so what backspacing are you using to clear the calipers? I just picked up a 2000 Z71 that needs new tires and have a new set of 15" tires off of my 79, so I really don't want to buy another new set of tires when steel wheels are cheap.

Thanks,
Red

I'm not sure but I don't think 15" wheels will clear the calipers. I hope I'm wrong so you can use your tires.

Re: 15" rims on a 1/2 ton

Hey guys, newbee here. I've got a 2000 ext. cab stepper 2wd with the factory 16" alloys which looks fine but I want something a little different. Honestly my favorite all time wheel would be the old 15" rally's with fat rubber and I think they look sweet on every year I've ever seen them on (60'-90's). I've scoured the web trying to find a pic and info on how to get the old 15" rims on this year truck (disc's front and rear). It's a classic old school look that would stand out I think. The only pic I've seen is that one you posted ghettoluxury - looks great on a 4x4 and I think would be a sharp look on a 2wd too. Obviously I would have to go with the 8" 6-bolts but what all has to be done to get them to work on these newer trucks? I've heard "grinding the calipers" until they fit. Sounds scary, just curious as to anyone who has done this and how much effort is required? Surely someone else out there has done this?! I sure would appreciate some help here guys. Thanks!
