Hey Y'all!

Hey guys! My name is Flossie. I am happy to become a member!!

When I became the driving age I really fancied trucks so when I turned 17 my grandpa gave me his 1983 c10 SWB truck and I fell in love and have been in love ever since. I am especially attached to the truck since my papa passed away two years ago.

Anywho... Fathers day someone wrecked into my truck on the driver's side bedside and I didn't even find out until like a week later. Fortunately I found the person that done it! They said their car rolled away without them! I Thank God That I found them and they had insurance !! My truck had never been in an accident until then. It only had two owners before me. One which was my grandpa and then the other owner was a close family friend. The insurance company still wanted to total it for 900! I freaked out! Finally got a decent settlement for the truck and was able to keep the title clean. I am in the process of finding a bedside now.

The body shops I checked around at wanted an outrageous amount of money to fix the bedside and the hood so I am just replacing them. My grandpa had taken the hood off back in the day and the wind blew it over and it got a considerable amount of damage to it under the hood.

I got a new hood but I have plans for the old hood as well

Here's a picture of my truck.

I hope to gather some advice from you guys and just get to know more about classic and custom trucks!

Welcome to the site! You will find everything you need or need to know right here. These guys are the best!
What the heck is with insurance companies totaling everything?
My car had about 300 dollars worth of damage and they wanted to total it.
I fought with them for a week while they were stripping it on the side.
When I found out I took pics and threatened to put them on the news.
They kindly gave me the car back ( and most of the parts ) and I spent about 300 bucks fixing it and have been driving it for 5 years. The AC even works great.
They did keep the steering wheel cover though. Douches!

Hey welcome to the best boards around from MT That's an awesome story about the truck getting passed down. They mean so much more when they have been in the family. That sucks to hear it was wrecked! Glad your gonna keep it and fix it good luck on it all.

Re: Hey Y'all!

Welcome Flossie!
Nice truck!
I feel your joy and your pain. My dad purchased the '67 new, and I went with him when he was shopping and was a passenger when he drove it home from the dealer. I inherited it in '83. It's been a daily driver for all of its existence. If it were wrecked, it would a very painful experience to me!
