Help with Alternator removal on Chevy BB

The lower bolt on the alternator won't come all the way out as it hits the power steering pulley.

I know I've done this before but can't seem to remember how. Do I need to remove the pulley? Or remove the whole bracket connecting the alternator to the block?

Any expert advice out there? Thanks!

thats odd, is it a short waterpump motor? 99% ofbig blocks have the alternator and ps pump on opposite sides

You're funny! It's on a 1972 Chevy Truck. We are in the Truck forum right?

I'm not sure what a short water pump motor is. I'll take a look closer tomorrow and try and get some pictures. I have two 1972 trucks with big blocks and they are both set up the same way.

Right, a chevy big block motor on a lawn mower. Obviously you have nothing constructive to add so IGNORE!
