TH350 to 700r4 swap

I am wanting to replace my TH350 with a 700r4 in my 72 swb c10. I would like to hear some pros and cons of the swap? any advice wood be helpful.

There are no cons outside of the cost in the swap. What gear ratio is your rearend? Overdrive equals better fuel mileage and happier driver. 700r4 has a wicked 1st gear too. But you are looking at a couple grand in the swap and that is getting a good rebuild trans.

I love mine...been running it for 11 years.

Only con I know of is that you can't scare people when you pass them on the highway with your screaming exhaust...unless you pull it down into third when you go by.

I'm in the middle of this same update. I'm dropping in a new 350 ZZ4 crate motor and a GM certified 700r4 out of a 90 Corvette. There are much cheaper ways to do this, but I want it done and forget about it.

my rear gear is a 3.08. Wood it be better with a 3.73?

The 3.73 and 700R4 is a great combo. Just dont go alot shorter than a 28" tire. Then the RPMs start creeping back up on ya.

I have 235/75/15 with 7oor4 and 3.72 gears...............I love it. best thing I ever did...and shifts Hard enough to bark in all gears if I stand on it..
