71K-10 ignition Coil location
Can anyone post a photo of the original coil mount location, trying to rewire mine back to stock. Was it mounted on intake or on firewall, it's a 350 4sp.
Thanks Guy's Posted via Mobile Device

Do you have the bracket that clamps the coil? It bolts to the intake behind the carb next to the dist. If you have the bracket it will line up on the intake holes with 5/16 by 3/4'' bolts

Re: 71K-10 ignition Coil location
The correct coil bracket looks like the one in the photo. The coil will stand almost straight up with a slight lean.
I don't recall if Edelbrock intakes have the correct hole locations. I think some do and some don't. You should see two 5/16 x 18 holes tapped into bosses between the carb and the distributor. This information is for the factory configuration. |

Re: 71K-10 ignition Coil location
Not a truck but its a 1972 Chevelle with a stock points type coil and distributor. I'm 99.9997% sure it the same on our trucks. I took my coil off my truck years ago and replaced it with a HEI setup. Looking at the date code on those plug wires and knowing when I rebuilt that engine I'd say that coil was bolted down there in 1989. In 1989 I would have had no idea you could replace that ignition with a HEI. Even though I managed to rebuild that 350 myself.
