Sweet. Hope they stay that way now! Glad it was a simple fix for you.

Re: got my truck running but almost had a huge problem rocker popped off push rod
I would be concerned about why this happened. Studs coming out of the head or worn threads? If this happens again while driving...

Either that, or you have some valves sticking from sitting up. How was it running? Was it skipping?

Re: got my truck running but almost had a huge problem rocker popped off push rod
ya it was skipping a little but thought it was maybe the old gas or some trash in the carb but its not missing a beat now i don't know cause it didn't look like the studs were coming up and the threads wasn't screwed up. maybe someone trying to adjusting valve not knowing what there doing

If you're running hydraulic lifters and some trash got in them, they may have collapsed (spring pressure pushed the oil back out of them,) be careful that they're not too tight now.

Re: got my truck running but almost had a huge problem rocker popped off push rod
Well first put a straight edge across all the studs. They should all be at the same height. If that is ok then I would inspect further maybe into the lifters. Was this engine running well in it's history or did you just acquire it? Something is up and you need to know what that is.
If it is the studs they could be pinned or swapped for screw in but that will be hard to do without removing the heads. Metal could easily get into the engine.

Re: got my truck running but almost had a huge problem rocker popped off push rod
Only way to fix a pulled stud is by either pinning them through the stud boss on the head, or having screw in stud installed. I've pinned studs with the head still on the engine in the rig. Not sure what your mechanical abilities are, but it can be done yourself.

Re: got my truck running but almost had a huge problem rocker popped off push rod
I'd either buy a set of ready to bolt on heads with screw in studs or take your heads to a shop and have them tap and thread in some arp studs. While your at it, might as well freshen them up! However by the time you buy gaskets, studs, pay for shop work and freshen the heads, you can usually find a good set of 2.02/1.60 heads that are ready to bolt on for $500 bucks or less.

Re: got my truck running but almost had a huge problem rocker popped off push rod
Also, if your running a hydraulic cam, be sure to add some zinc additive to your oil. The newer motor oil doesn't have enough zinc in it to keep hydraulic cams alive. Also, pull all of your push tubes and blow through them with an air gun.
