Headlight switch removal?

Which way does the knob on the headlight switch turn to unscrew it? I'm trying to remove the switch to replace it but the knob won't unscrew.

Re: Headlight switch removal?

i just rip it off... there's like a clip that holds it on..

not sure if this is the right way but it works.. just push it back on.

Re: Headlight switch removal?

NEITHER!

there is a button on the headlight switch assembly that is spring loaded (on the backside of the dash)

push that button, pull the knob til it stops, depress button again and give it a hardy yank, not so hard you bust the thing but enough that it comes free. then you will have the knob and the shaft in your hand. the assemble has a retaining screw behind the dash bezel holding the assembly to the metal dash.
