Does any body know where I can get this?

The front of my roof near the windshield is rotted out and needs to be replaced.

Through the inside I just ordered the whole inner roof panel so that should take care of that but I cant find that outter lip for the roof.

Does anyone make a patch panel besides the whole roof?

OR

Does anyone have an original cab that would like to sell the from part?

Picture attached.

have you checked GMC Pauls website. I'm not sure if they make a reproduction patch panel for that but if they do, Paul will have it

C10Sim,

I knew of two in a local salvage yard- will see if they are still there this weekend and get back to you.

Thanks, Bill (Mac the Yankee)

I have checked multiple vendors including GMC Pauls but no luck yet, unless I missed it.

Do you need just the front half, or would you like the whole roof?

Re: Does any body know where I can get this?

You would probably be better off to use the whole roof from a donor truck. I'd study the places that the roof is spot welded to the rest of the cab on the back side and cut the spot welds out while cutting the A pillers similar to how you would chop a truck but don't chop it. I saw either a thread on a forum or a magazine article showing how they had formed those pieces with a shrinker/stretcher setup but that takes some serious metal working skills.

If it were me I'd square the cab up as close to perfect as I could get it, align the doors perfectly so the gaps are right, brace the daylights out of the cab and then swap roofs and do what metal finishing needed to be done.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

I just need the front half or the front 10 inches of the roof. I will only be utilizing the little over hang that's about 3 inches. I want to keep my original roof and minimize the cutting into as less as possible. Thanks again for your help!!!

It cross my mind but since I'm going for the patina look, I don't want to change the originality of the color/patina. So I rather just patch that underside which should be hardly noticeable if done right but I sure do appreciate the suggestions.

That isn't patina that's cancer. You don't fix it right and the whole truck will rot away in another few years.

LOL!!! That section is cancer but not the whole roof. Im going clean and acid etch the roof and apply POR-15 and I should have great access when I replace the inner roof.

Re: Does any body know where I can get this?

Sounds to me like it is just right for a 1 1/2" chop on a new roof.
